Spay Josie’s Dogs

spay josie's dogs

Josie is a homeless woman with a big heart. She captured our hearts earlier this year with her amazing dedication to the street dogs she has adopted. Despite having no home of her own or proper source of income, her dogs come first. Each day Josie searches for recyclable items to sell, such as plastic bottles, with the dogs by her side and by night she and the dogs share the cart which carries all her belongings.

We began supporting her by giving her regular parcels of dog food, which she then shares with other homeless dog owners.

Street Dog Spaying

As Josie’s dogs are not yet neutered, we suggested that we spay the females first, ensuring that no unwanted puppies are born. Josie agreed, but as she lives over two hours from the Treatment Centre, we sought help from a local private vet clinic, run by Jelly, one of our Volunteer Vets. IWCT agreed to cover the cost of the spay and associated fees. With blood tests (to ensure the dogs don’t enter the clinic with any contagious diseases), veterinary fees and follow up care, the cost for all Josie’s dogs exceeds PHP80,000 or £1,000.

This is an appeal for your help.

We’ve said that feeding the stray dogs isn’t a long term solution in controlling the dog population. Spaying Josie’s dogs will prevent further unwanted dogs in her local area. At present, we have limited resources as we rely on Volunteer Vets and donations to run our spay clinics, but we know spaying the strays will make a difference. Please help support the first step in achieving this by making a donation towards covering the cost of spaying Josie’s dogs.

With your help we can support more caring dog owners like Josie, do the right thing as responsible pet owners. With your help we can care for more stray dogs who don’t have someone like Josie to care for them. This is the start of an important movement in the Philippines in controlling the dog population, reducing the incidence of Rabies and encouraging more people to become responsible dog owners.
